Was he really?

This is driving me mad, and I thought someone on the flist is bound to know...

According to this site, Anthony Andrews was in Cambridge Spies. Now I know I'm probably distracted every time by the wonder that is Sam West as Anthony Burgess Blunt (ETA: Oops!), but can I really have watched it all the way through several times without noticing Anthony Andrews?

He has a very distinctive way of speaking that I'm sure I'd recognise. Unless he didn't have any lines. ::boggles::

So, who was he?

He played George VI apparently. No, I don't remember him either. *boggles with you*

Oh. Okay. I can think of two or maybe three scenes he's in, but am still boggled over it being him. ::ponders:: He did have a German accent, which was probably the key to his impenetrable disguise...

German accent? George VI just talked like all the royals. Kind of constipated. :D

Btw, are you familiar with this comm?

You probably are, but just thought I'd mention it.

German accent?

Yes, that's what it sounded like to me. *g* I did wonder why.

The other royals in Brideshead didn't sound like that - the Queen, for example, sounded perfectly normal - especially when she was needling Anthony about having a moustache...
