rosiespark: (Of course he does!)
It's been raining very heavily for a few hours now, and to my immeasureable relief, the temporary solution on the roof, involving plastic sheeting and diversions of the rainwater flow, seems to have worked. Gah, this is really disgusting weather, just as I'd started to get cheerful about Spring being here! And the gale force winds and heavy showers spell doom for this weekend's carnival parades, since the floats rely largely on papier mache. God obviously doesn't approve of Carnival...

My mp3 player which I bought on eBay arrived a couple of days ago, and seems to be in perfect condition. I'm very relieved, if a bit cross, once again, with the seller. For frak's sake, when you're posting a delicate item of electronic equipment that someone has paid you 178 euros for, it's extremely irresponsible not to make sure it's packed well! The rather flimsy box it had got squashed in transit, so it was partly open, and the software cd was missing (not actually a big deal since I've downloaded it). I wish eBay allowed for more of a range of feedback, rather than just positive, neutral or negative. I'd like to give the seller a qualified positive, especially after the way he "was too busy" to inform me that my bank transfer had arrived in his account. Hmph. [livejournal.com profile] dargie? Anyone else? What's the accepted procedure in a case like this? I don't feel a negative is entirely fair, since I did get the item and it's in good condition, as described. A neutral, then? And then there's the catch that whatever feedback I give him, he'll probably turn around and give me the same. Do I really want to get an undeserved neutral or negative on my record?

On a more cheerful note, I got a lovely surprise in the post yesterday - a birthday card from [livejournal.com profile] the_grokster. Very sweet of you - thank you! As for the hotel armchairs, I barely got to try them out - too busy with the meeting, and then with sightseeing and shopping on Saturday before flying back - and only finished Shards of Honour on the flight back. But I totally recommend the hotel - central, clean, comfortable, with loads of atmosphere and charm, and not expensive. That worked out well, even if the meeting itself didn't. On the whole, I'm glad I went. :)

I've been trying to walk regularly - and not really managing. I last walked on Sunday and somehow the week's slipped past and it's Thursday... And it's disgusting out, so no walk today. In an attempt not to fail completely on the exercise front, I mean to dig out one of my yoga cds and try a few of the easy introductory exercises. You never know, I might even enjoy it!
