Ohmygod! I'm in Edinburgh!
Apr. 20th, 2007 09:18 pmI'm actually here. It didn't seem quite real, in the run-up to leaving - and now I'm here, logging on from my guesthouse in Willowbrae Road... Eeee! Sorry, can't contain my excitement.
Narrowly Averted Disaster of the Day
So I'm more than halfway to the mechanic's, having agreed to drop my car off for a service and to meet my mum there so that she can give me a lift to the airport, when... PANIC ATTACK. I'd left my passport at home. Hadn't even thought about packing it. Ack! Lucky distances are so short in Malta. Well, the car never got delivered to the garage. I was forcibly reminded of the time I was leaving sunny Malta one hot November day, on a trip to France, and only realised once I was at the airport that I'd left my coat behind...
Prettiest Person of the Day
One of the cabin staff on the flight from Gatwick to Edinburgh. Very young, and jaw-droppingly pretty in that slightly androgynous way... With cute spiky hair and a nice accent. I ogled him shamelessly. Sekrit Message to
glinda_north: Probably cuter even than the Gozitan waiters. ;)
Overpacker of the Year
Um. That would be me. ::blushes:: I was working on the (apparently excessive) principle of packing three of everything. Which is okay for underwear etc, but three pairs of trousers (that's in addition to the pair I was wearing), three long sleeved t-shirts, three short-sleeved t-shirts, three cardigans, three polo-necked sweaters... You get the idea. ;)
Other than that, I've walked miles of airport corridor today, impulse-bought a bag (like I didn't already have enough to carry! And it's a pretty bag rather than a useful bag), chatted to the less good looking guy sitting on my right while feeling intimidated by the droolsome guy on my other side on the Malta-Gatwick flight (oh, woe!), rode in the downstairs of a double-decker bus, and finally checked into a funny little room at the Drumorne guesthouse.
Dunnett stuff tomorrow and Sunday, and then on to Campbeltown for a week, and back to Edinburgh on the 30th for four days. Wheee!
