Am at home recovering from gastric flu and - joy! - watching lots of television.
Firefly - Finished the series yesterday, second time through. And went on to watch Serenity this evening - may I say how much more I appreciated it now that I have a good handle on the show. Ultimate test of just how far it got its claws into me - I cried. Good stuff.
Torchwood - Episode one of the second series played out pretty much like a crack fanfic. Which, since I'm not terribly emotionally invested in the show, is a Very Good Thing. Failed to see the allure ofJohn ETA James Marsters but the combined pretteh of the Torchwood team more than made up for that. And Jack asked Ianto out! Squee!! Though he also seemed to be making a serious move on Gwen, judging by his reaction to the news that she got engaged to Rhys while Jack was "away". Not sure what's going on there. Not sure if Jack is sure what's going on there...
Due South - watched the Pilot with my mum the other evening, and found that worrying about whether she was enjoying it somewhat dulled the edge of my own enjoyment. Being too distracted to fully appreciate Benton Fraser at his youngest, most innocent and most cleancut is definitely NOT a Good Thing. *sigh* Maybe it would be better to limit our joint watching to shows in which I have less of an emotionally investment. Not that I think she'd be into Torchwood - hee! But stuff like Rome and Life on Mars, which I enjoy a lot but which are not so closely tied to my fannish heart that any hint of criticism makes me all verklempt, would possibly work better.
Battlestar Galactica - I wonder if I can manage to watch the Pilot and all three seasons before the new episodes start in March? Paradoxically, it's the earlier episodes I remember best. If I rewatch from the very beginning, I get all the joy of watching early Lee and Kara strike sparks off each other as well as (hopefully) getting the later seasons straight in my head. I say hopefully because the second and third seasons don't maintain the coherence and integrity of the first. Still, it should be fun. And hey, getting to watch Leoben now that CKR is one of my favourite actors? Now that's something I'm looking forward to. *g*
