This evening, I have
- written a batch of cards
- drunk port
- listened to Byrd, Tallis and Jan Garbarek's Officium, and
- stirred the mincemeat

I can go to bed now with a clear conscience.

PS Haircut tomorrow morning, it being a public holiday - woot! And I don't have to go to work till next Wednesday - thanks to a winning combination of leave, public holidays and weekend. ::beams::

How come you get public holidays in the middle of the week? I want a holiday in the middle of the week. I could get stuff done. Or just sleep in.

*is feeling very whiny even though life is extremely good*

They go by dates, so we get a holiday on the 8th whatever day of the week it happens to be. Unless it's a weekend, in which case everyone feels cheated out of an extra day off. *g*

I got stuff done - got my hair cut (yay!), re-installed Windows (but not the window I've been varnishing!), wrote and posted a load more cards, stirred the mincemeat some more, and did some Christmas shopping.

And this morning, I've put the mincemeat in jars and will probably do Christmassy things now like write more cards and put up the tree and other decorations, and will go and see HP4 with my mum this evening. ::sigh:: What I ought to be doing is the last coat of varnish on that bloody window...

See, here you get either a Friday or a Monday off (or an extra paid day on your cheque) no matter when the actual holiday is. And what I really need is a Wednesday, every once in a while. That would be fantastic.

I have like six days to finish all things Christmassy before I go away, and there's not a snowball's chance in hell it's gonna happen. No way.

Oh dear. What do you have left to do?

And where are you going? Hope it's somewhere nice! I sent your Christmas card to your father's addres - does this mean you won't get it till ages after Christmas? :(

Okay, that's it. I am prising my fingers off the keyboard and mouse and going for a walk while there's still some sun. Otherwise, am going to turn into some strange sort of vampire-creature...

Um... everything. I've done no shopping, and have to have all the presents ready to come with me when I leave next Tuesday, plus I want to set up a tree and do some baking for my Dad, because he'll be all alone. I still haven't thought up a gift for the boyfriend or visited all the neighbors who feed me when my dad's away or anything. And it's the last week of internship before break so I have so much to do for that...

And where are you going? Hope it's somewhere nice!

Sort of. My uncle (mom's brother) has decided that since his cancer isn't responding to treatment, and this is the last Christmas that my Nana is likely to remember (her Alzhiemer's is getting really bad), we're all spending the holiday in BC with them. Which would normally be okay except that the thought of being in a house with my mother and a lot of other people who are mad at me for ten days (I'll be back the thirtieth), when I could be here with my dad and my boyfriend, isn't too pleasant. I was trying to be really optimistic about it, but then yesterday I realized that this is my last Christmas that I'm likely to see my siblings (my dad can fly my brother out for holidays, but I can't afford to see the twins on starting salary), so I'm all depressed about the holiday and have done nothing festive. There'll probably be a long, whiny post about it before I go.

The boyfriend is taking me to Niagara for New Years, which is nice.

I sent your Christmas card to your father's addres - does this mean you won't get it till ages after Christmas? :(

YAY! Mail! You have no idea how much this cheers me. I love Christmas cards. (I always want to reply to those posts that say 'give me your address and I'll send a card' but then I think of my poor dad, and how many people did you give our address to, Maria? so I don't.) And I suppose it depends when you sent it. Mail overseas is really slow at holiday time, but it might be here before I go. If not, it'll be here to cheer me up on the thirtieth. :D

Hope you survive till the 30th, then, so that you can enjoy New Year. At least Davy and Bekka will adore having you there for Christmas!

And I'd say you'll get the card after Christmas, since I was a bit late sending it.
