Congratulations! Your Pirates of the Carribean
Soulmate is Commodore Norrington!
Who's your Pirates of the Caribbean Soulmate
brought to you by Quizilla
I do like him, and he'd probably suit me better than either Will (too earnest) or Cap'n Jack (too hard to pin down - and I don't mean in the physical sense!). And given the choice, I'd have
firesignwriter's Commodore James, from her Full Moon series - verrry nice. ::licks lips and shivers::
On the Pixel front, things aren't looking too cheerful. In spite of daily antibiotic injections, the infection refuses to get better. The vet has tried various combinations of different antibiotics and nothing quite seems to work. I suggested taking a swab and growing a culture, but she said it's too risky because it would mean stopping the antibiotics for three days before taking the swab, otherwise the results wouldn't be reliable. If the infection doesn't respond within the next couple of days, it'll mean operating to remove the pellets, since the source of the infection is probably bits of fur/dirty skin that were carried into the wound when she was shot. That made me think of Stephen's gun wound in the M&C film - thank heavens for antibiotics these days!

Date: 2004-09-02 12:26 am (UTC)We were always going to remove the pellets eventually, but were hoping to postpone an operation until she was stronger. Now she's got over the initial shock, it had probably better be soon. Thankfully, veterinary treatment is still very reasonable here, and this particular vet, apart from being very experienced and well-equipped, charges what are probably the lowest fees on the island. So far it's cost me under Lm20, and that includes last Friday's x-ray and daily injections. So at least I don't have money worries on top of everything else!

Date: 2004-09-02 11:27 am (UTC)Vets are very expensive here. If I had a pet I think I'd have health insurance for it.

Op is scheduled for tomorrow at 4 pm. I keep taking deep breaths and telling myself that she'll be alright...

Date: 2004-09-02 01:27 pm (UTC)The Full Moon stories are in my 'to be printed' folder, and as I've been very good about printing the last couple of months, I think I will indulge in a veritable orgy of it this weekend (a long weekend) and do those, the Viggorli you recced me, the Hornblower ones that I'm behind on, one or two Sean/Elijah.... As soon as I get the website up, she says hopefully, dangling a few tasty carrots.
I'll be asleep during the op, but I'll think about her before I go to bed tonight, and hopefully you'll have good news on your LJ when I get up.

Date: 2004-09-02 02:03 pm (UTC)Good choice of words there! Sounds most enjoyable. ;-) I just received a parcel with the seven O'Brians that I was missing from the second ten, so now I'm torn between continuing the series with number eleven (The Reverse of the Medal) and going on with the slow re-read in which I'm approaching the end of Post Captain. Since either choice will provide me with a veritable orgy of Jack/Stephen, I suppose it's not that critical a decision.
Thanks for the good thoughts for tomorrow - I'll post an update when we get home from the vet's.
