I hab a code...

::pauses to blow nose::

A cold. Ugh. I was feeling too dreadful to go to work this morning, so have been lounging on the sofa with Jack Absolute and a cat, and am just about to make a cup of tea and return to the sofa. In spite of my stuffy head, aching limbs and nose that's dripping like a tap, the morning isn't shaping up too badly after all. :)

Now if only the people next door, who are having their house done up, would stop thumping on the walls...

I have very happy memories of books I read when I was ill. It's odd how one can enjoy being sick, as long as one isn't too sick.

That's exactly it. I'm sick but not too sick. *g*

I started Jack Absolute once before, rather halfheartedly, and didn't get very far, but it's just entertaining enough without being too demanding to be perfectly suited to my state of mind this morning.

Jack Absolute! That swashbuckling napoleonic bodice-ripper! I knew I was hooked on it when I encountered Pellew. My favourite I-Feel-Sick cure has always been tea, toast with honey, and the Princess Bride...it's nice to just have a reason to curl up sometimes. Feel better soon!

toast with honey

Ooh, yes. What a wonderful idea! Will definitely have some later. I have German honey that's a bit bland, and thyme honey and citrus honey from Sicily that are just delicious. Yes, I'm a bit of a honey nut - I always try and bring some back with me when I go abroad, despite the weight. And [livejournal.com profile] fajrdrako went home this morning with a jar of Gozitan honey in her luggage...

Citrus honey? From Sicily you say? That sounds like it's worth the extra weight.
*drools*
*toddles off to the dining commons to complain of lack of imported honey for toast*

Hmm. Soup. Erm.

I rifled my food cupboards and came up with some asparagus cup-a-soup with a best-before date of June 2005. That was my lunch. So far so good.

Then my mum came over with a tin of chicken soup - only it turned out to have expired last March....

Your chicken noodle soup would be most welcome. :)

I have a cold, too. But you sound much more cheerful than I am. That may be because I can't get out of school and work today. I have a yucky-in-the-throat kind of cold.

(I'm blaming it on the weather. It can't make up its mind and I never know what coat to wear.)

Feel better soon!

Actually, my cheerfulness fluctuates according to how long it's been since my last dose of paracetamol. Was achey and shivery and miserable around an hour ago...

Feel better soon!

Thank you - hope you do too! ::hugs:: Virtual hugs don't swap bugs. *g*

Oh, how I wish I could have drugs. But they make me sleepy, and then I can't drive.

Virtual hugs don't swap bugs.

Next time I have two teenagers on the unit who want to see each other but are isolated, and I'm trying to convince them that using the laptops or room phones is just as good as watching TV in the same room, I'm SO going to use that line.

Aww, colds are nasty business, I hope yours doesn't stay long. I may have one brewing, too.... I suspect it's setting up camp in my sinuses, but hasn't developed a clear plan of attack (perhaps it's awaiting reinforcements)... my nose is usually my weakest place, though... so we'll see. But the battle is coming and it won't be pretty.

Tea drinking (especially with honey), sofa lounging and reading something not too demanding sounds like a good plan. And having a soft warm feline around doesn't hurt either.

Get well soon, Rosie.

Boo to colds. And boo to periods (except that mine tend to = horiness, which is a good thing... kinda... assuming I'm not incompasitated < spelling??? >). ^ ^

Obviously I need to go home.
